Jota Ramos é pós-graduado em Ciências Sociais Aplicadas pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, onde pesquisou o movimento empreendedor negro e trans na região sul do Brasil. As residências que fez parte incluem Corpo - Acumulo na Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana em Porto Alegre (2019); Our Stories no Jamaica Performing Arts Center em Nova York (2019); Atlas of Transition Performing Arts and Migration em Bolonha (2020); Carolinas na Flup (Festival de Literatura da Periferia) no Rio de Janeiro (2020); e Residência Tracce em Conversano (2021). As suas obras têm sido expostas em Portugal, Itália, Estados Unidos, Suíça, Brasil e Alemanha. Exposições coletivas incluem Circle 1 Gallery, Oyoun Cultural Center, Acud Macht Neu,Lona Galeria, VaeRaleigh, Espaço Itinerante, Escola de Belas Artes, Museum im BellPark, LaBotegaLaboratorio Urbano e Wedding film. Em 2022, participou da residência "INcorporAÇÕES e Cruzas Poéticas" no MARGS (Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul), em Porto Alegre, passando a integrar o acervo do museu. No mesmo ano, participou da residência artística Panorama, no Afropolitan, em Berlim, e da exposição de performances nas Galerias Vermelho e Chão SLZ, no Brasil. Ele também foi um dos seis artistas internacionais selecionados para o programa de mentoria PerfocraZe em Gana, com uma recente exposição coletiva "Before the rain comes" no Piar em Kumasi, participou da QUEERWEEK no Maxim Gorki Theater em Berlim com sua peça de dramaturgia "Borboleta MorphoAzul" e do DISKURS Festival em Giessen, com a performance "HIIT". Em 2023, fez uma residência na Akademie Schloss Solitude e SAVVY "Magical Hackerism or The Elasticity of Resilience", a residência "Space Camp" no TanzHaus em Zurique. Em julho, ele exibiu a peça de instalação "My Voice is. Whip" na Hošek Contemporary Art Gallery em Berlim, financiada pelo IMPACT-Förderung 2023. Realizou a segunda parte de "Private Property", financiada em Berlim pelo FrixFond e financiada em Düsseldorf pelo KunstKommission, e exibida no FLUCTOPLASMA FESTIVAL em Hamburgo. Ele interpretou o papel de "WOY" no RAUTENSTRAUCH JOEST MUSEUM. Seu curta-metragem ROOM 36 acaba de ser selecionado entre 13.000 filmes e recebeu uma Menção Honrosa no SWIFF Film Festival e foi exibido no See Us on Film: The Atlanta Black Pride Festival, New York Brazilian Film Festival e Encontro de Cinema Negro Zózimo Bulbul - Brasil, África, Caribe e Outras Diásporas. Está dirigindo a instalação performática "MoBATH", financiada pelo IMPACT 2024, e fará sua primeira exposição individual na Gallery in Körnerpark em agosto de 2024. Atualmente, ele faz parte da "Vila Sul", uma residência no Instituto Goethe em Salvador - Bahia. O artista também ativo na comunidade ballroom como Mandrake Mermaid Xtravaganza e é o organizador do Workdtcxnt, um evento mensal com foco na identidade transmasculina Bipoc dentro da ballroom.

Jota Ramos has a postgraduate degree in applied social science by the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul where he researched the black and trans entrepreneur movement in the southern region of Brazil. His works have been exhibited in Portugal, Italy, United States,Switzerland, Brazil, and Germany. Group exhibitions include Circle 1 Gallery, Oyoun Cultural Center, Acud Macht Neu,Lona Galeria, VaeRaleigh, Espaço Itinerante, Escola de Belas Artes, Museum im BellPark, LaBotegaLaboratorio Urbano and Wedding film. In 2022, he took part in the residency »INcorporAÇÕES e Cruzas Poéticas« at MARGS (Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul) in Porto Alegre and is now represented in the museum collection. In the same year he was part of the Panorama art residency at Afropolitan in Berlin and the performance exhibition at Galeria Vermelho and Chão SLZ in Brazil. He was also one of the six international artists selected for the PerfocraZe mentoring program in Ghana, with a recent group exhibition “Before the rain comes” at Piar in Kumasi, attended both the QUEERWEEK at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin with his dramaturgy piece “Borboleta MorphoAzul” and the DISKURS Festival in Giessen , with the performance “HIIT”. In 2023 he did a residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude and SAVVY »Magical Hackerism or The Elasticity of Resilience«, the residency “Space Camp” at TanzHaus in Zurich. In July he exhibited the installation piece “My Voice is. Whip” at Hošek Contemporary Art Gallery in Berlin funded by IMPACT-Förderung 2023. He performed the second part of the “Private Property”funded in Berlin by FrixFond and funded in Düsseldorf by KunstKommission and exhibited at FLUCTOPLASMA FESTIVAL in Hamburg. He played the role of “WOY” at RAUTENSTRAUCH JOEST MUSEUM. His short movie ROOM 36 was just now selected among 13.000 movies and has a Honorable Mention at the SWIFF Film Festival it was shown at See Us on Film: The Atlanta Black Pride Festival, New York Brazilian Film Festival and Encontro de Cinema Negro Zózimo Bulbul - Brasil, África, Caribe e Outras Diásporas. He is currently directing the performance installation “MoBATH” funded by IMPACT 2024 and is going to have his first solo exhibition at Gallery in Körnerpark in August 2024. He is currently part of “Vila Sul” a residency at Goethe Institute in Salvador - Bahia. The artist is also part of the ballroom community as Mandrake Mermaid Xtravaganza and is the organiser of Workdtcxnt, a monthly ballroom event focus on transmasculine Bipoc identity.
